This series explores the beauty and solitude of global travel, captured through the window of an airplane. By framing these vistas within the constant shape of the window, I document a “nomadic” existence—one where the landscape is stripped of its usual scale, revealing the raw, geometric patterns of the world from 30,000 feet.

My process begins mid-flight with photography and sketching, but the final paintings are not literal copies of a view. Instead, I seek to create what Georgia O’Keeffe called an “equivalent”—a visual representation of how a place feels rather than just how it looks. Inspired by O’Keeffe’s own aerial paintings and her fascination with the “faraway feeling,”I distill these vast horizons into minimalist compositions of light and form.

Ultimately, these works explore the transition from the physical act of traveling to a state of quiet observation. By flattening the clouds and land into rhythmic shapes, I invite the viewer to experience the landscape not as a destination on a map, but as a profound sense of presence within the vastness.
